Sunshine Dragstrip Closes with 50 Years
February 3, 2012 · 2 CommentsSunshine Dragstrip, Clearwater, FL, joins the list of struggling drag strips across the world and will be shutting the doors. 50 years of drag racing history will come to an end on Saturday, February 11th with their final even tof the year, “Street” Heat.”
The track made this announcement recently on their website and signed the note with the staff; Todd Dickinson, Keith Adams and the Sunshine Dragstrip Staff
The track staff posted on their facebook “We’re not saying the facility is not going to re-open at some point; we are just saying it’s the end of the Sunshine Dragstrip era. The dragstrip has operated under the Sunshine Dragstrip name for going on 50 years, with many racers and families growing up here and racing together.”
