Ronnie Davis Back on Track after Z-Max Win
August 24, 2012 · 0 Comments
Ronnie Davis’ late-season turnaround in Summit Racing Equipment Top Sportsman was in full force at Dragstock at zMAX Dragway, as he won for the first time in the class with an impressive 4.085 at 162.98 mph.
Nobody could match Davis and his weekend-long consistency, who remarkably had his dial-in in the 4.00s during eliminations. It was the perfect capper to a great weekend for the class, which got a world record from Travis Harvey (4.016 at 185 mph) and a record qualifying field where all 16 cars were in the 4.20s or quicker.
Even with the record-setting field, it was Davis who made the most noise as he started a late-season charge that could make the Summit Racing Equipment Top Sportsman race even more interesting over the final three events.
“I normally don’t dial it in this quick, but it was a lot of fun going that quick,” Davis said. “It was a good race car and this was a very meaningful win.
“I’ve struggled here in the ADRL and it’s been disappointing. I really wanted to do good here. I had to get one of these things and I’m not going to stop now.”
