First round action saw Sullivan Jr. defeat first alternate Gerry "Shagnasty" Dawkins, who was in for a broke McNally. Milner-Baxley benefitted from a Holcomb red-light and Buschmeyer took a single after Hancock could not fire in the burnout box. Big John Sullivan used a holeshot to force polesitter Mathis in to a 4.28 breakout.

In the semi-finals Buschemeyer beat Sullivan Sr., 4.39 to 4.43 and Sullivan Jr. defeated a troubled Milner-Baxley , 4.37 to 4.53.

The finals ended at the starting line as Buschmeyer redlighted away his chances while Sullivan Jr. sped to a 4.39.

4.70 Index was the next fastest class on the grounds but put on a main event show with 15 cars qualifying. Doug Roberts parlayed his number 1 qualifying position in to a victory after defeating William Clary. Roberts used a holeshot and a 4.73 to force Clary to a 4.68 breakout. Gary McKinney and Greg Pruitt, both driving Gamble Racing owned cars, were the semi-finalist.

Twenty eight 5.30 cars qualified and again the number one qualifier went on
to win. Paige Owens doesn't race as often as some of his competitors but
whenever he shows up he is a threat to win it all as he did for the second time this year. He defeated Tim Jones in the semi-finals and Russell Nece in the finals. his 5.36 was enough to secure the win as Nece brokeout with a 5.29. Nece had advance to the finals when his semi-final opponent Chris Calloway lost oil pressure. It was the first time out for the Larry Johnson owned Camaro, that Chris drives, after a horrific accident last November.
