What a difference a week makes, last Sunday, Montgomery Motorsports Park was blanketed in a couple inches of snow, this Sunday the place was covered with race cars and speed hungry fans. Edmund Hall brought his unique brand of heads-up racing to town and it was obvious racers and fans alike were ready. Approximately 3500 fans and about 150 race cars invaded the track in a steady stream and no one left disappointed.
In the 4.30 Pro Mod class, Edmund himself was the biggest surprise by not qualifying after going too quick. His 4.24 was the quickest pass of the day but was well below the 4.30 index. Robert Mathis qualified number 1 with a very good 4.315 followed by FL's Greg Buschmeyer. Greg's 4.338 was slightly ahead of Lynne Milner-Baxley's 4.344. John Sullivan Jr. was in the fourth spot with a a 4.401 the was just a tick ahead of newcomer Knoxville TN 's Jeff McNally who ran a 4.406. Allen Holcomb debuted his new Tommy Mauney built Corvette with a fine 4.446 and qualified ahead of Jamie Hancock's 4.453 and Big John Sullivan's 4.463.

Edmund "Mr.5 Speed" Hall failed to make the field after a too quick 4.24 pass during the second qualifying pass. Hall said “we put the 706 CID engine in the car and didn’t have time to test, but we made a 4.30 pass on the first hit. The first qualifying pass, the car took off in second, and we only ran a 4.80.”

”But, It feels good to have a successful turnout like today, after all the bad luck we had last year. We had to cancel two races last year on account of bad weather, including Hurricane Gustav.”

”It is good to know that people are still enjoying themselves event with this bad economy. I want to thank the fans, we had (15) promods, and (20) 4.70 cars. There were a total of 160 cars. This is the biggest field ever for the Baby Promod Show and a record crowd. I want to thank you fans and racers for supporting this race. Also, thanks to Jim Howard and the track for providing a great facility.”
